Kurzinfo zu LaTeX und wissenschaftlichen Arbeiten mit LaTeX


Wissenschaftliche Arbeiten

Auf meiner Lehrstuhlwebseite gibt es einen Leitfaden zum Erstellen wissenschaftlicher Arbeiten (gilt insb. auch für Forschungsprojekte). Er enthält nützliche Infos. Es hilft auch, sich an nachfolgenden LaTeX-Files zu orientieren.
Sehr empfehlenswert ist das kleine Buch "A Guide for the Young Economist" von William Thomson (MIT Press, 2001). Dort steht eigentlich fast alles, was man wissen muss oder vielleicht einmal brauchen kann. Das Buch ist aber natürlich kein Muss.

LaTeX

LaTeX macht Spass, wenn man's erst ein wenig gelernt hat, weil man damit professionelle Dokumente erzeugen kann. (Die meisten wissenschaftlichen Bücher sind heutzutage zum Beispiel mit LaTeX geschrieben.)

Attached meine Beispielfiles. Das hens-template.pdf-File zeigt, wie das ganze am Ende aussieht, das tex-File muss im selben Ordner wie Bilder und andere Dateien sein, wenn man es latext.
Ausserdem findet sich hier das File DiplomarbeitLatex.pdf, das auch interessante Informationen speziell fuer (Schweizer) Diplomarbeiten bereithaelt, aber nicht obligatorisch ist.

hens-template.zip
All the files needed for the template Latex document (including a logo of the Zurich University). You can just download this here. You can adjust that easily for Trier University. (In the following, the files that are included in this zip-file will be introduced one by one, and you can also download most of them separately.)
hens-template.pdf
The template LaTeX-file for writing a thesis at our group. - Here as pdf to see how it finally looks like. It contains some example formulas, graphics, tables etc.
hens-template.tex
The template LaTeX-file in LaTeX format (to be opened with a LaTeX editor, otherwise it looks at first intimidatingly difficult).
dist.eps
Image file needed for the example. (You won't need it in your thesis...)
testbib.bib
Bibliography needed for the example. You can modify this file to add the references you quote. (Often BibTex-format references can also be downloaded directly from the web.)
DiplomarbeitLatex.pdf
A text (in German) about how to write a diploma thesis in LaTeX. You can see that the text is old, but bachelor and master thesis follow the same ideas, so it's still useful. This file is not necessary to start, but for some people (the more technically orientated) it could be a useful resource for getting started. (Unfortunately it contains also many things you won't need at present, so don't worry about the complicated parts and just ignore them). It includes a LaTeX installation guide for Windows and documentation how to use the editor of the Windows version of LaTeX. (Apple installation see here, Linux users are smart enough to find an installation by themselves, I suppose... ;-)
